X1 - long term study visa which is for students who wish to study longer than 180 days.
X2 - short term study visa which is for students who wants to study shorter than 180 days.

Get all the required documents:

• The original passport of the applicant, the passport must be valid longer than the duration of the visa you want to get, and one page has to be blank.
• Complete the application form.
• One passport size photo.
• For X1 students have to provide original and a copy of JW201 or JW202 form.
• Applicants have to provide Admission Notice from the educational institute.

You have to submit your application and all the required documents, you cannot mail it to the embassy, you will have to submit them your self in person or get representative to submit on behalf of you.

You have to official invitation letter from Russian Ministry of Interior. The university in Russia will get this letter for you, but you have to submit this letter to the embassy together with your application. (It has to be original, copy, emailed and faxed are not accepted)

Every students have to get HIV tested and submit the original result and one copy to the embassy.

If the embassy ask you then you have to provide the contract between you and the university you want to study in.
